Cocoon vinyl soundtrack

iam8bit developed and produced Cocoon’s physical releases for the US and EU, which included a special edition box with a laser engraved glass orb, and a vinyl of Jakob Schmid’s Cocoon soundtrack.

I designed the record sleeve based on unused concept art from the game. In an early proposal the vinyl incorporated the different key colors of the worlds of Cocoon, but we ended up with going for a standard black, for better audio quality. The inner sleeve art work was composed of new renders in-game models and layered with custom vector art work.

Japanese special edition release

For the Japanese market we teamed up with SuperDeluxe Games, known for their exclusive releases, that are always filled to the brim with extra goodies for the fans. In this case: stickers, a poster, a mini-zine with interviews, and the soundtrack on CD.

An early proposal featured four different releases, for which each box would be wrapped in a special sheet design representing one of the worlds and bosses of Cocoon, and printed in that world’s key color. In the end, we opted for just one sheet design. The artwork for the box and sheet required new custom artwork, further exploring the lore of Cocoon.

cd soundtrack sleeve
Instead of a vinyl record, this special edition would be shipped with the soundtrack on a CD, in a new custom jacket. The graphic design of the vinyl record was adjusted for the new smaller format, and new illustrations were created for the inside of the sleeve and the CD label, to make it very distinct from the vinyl release.
